FBI apprehends violent Portland Antifa militant accused of launching attack on ICE facility

A Portland Antifa militant has been indicted by a federal grand jury over an alleged attack on the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in June.

Alistair Macfarlane Sidener, 20, of Portland, was busted by the FBI and federal law enforcement partners at his home on October 17 following the execution of an arrest warrant, federal court records show. He has been accused of damaging surveillance cameras affixed to the ICE facility during an Antifa-affiliated direct action on June 12.

Sidener has been charged with willfully injuring or committing any depredation against the property of the United States, according to court documents. The defendant was arraigned on October 17 in the US District Court in Portland. Judge Youlee Yim You ordered Sidener's release from custody pending court proceedings despite his history of extreme acts of violence committed at Antifa direct actions in recent months.

The federal indictment is currently under seal.

Sidener is also being prosecuted by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for a series of alleged criminal offenses committed on the same day he reportedly damaged the ICE surveillance cameras.

According to court documents, Sidener was allegedly involved in an Antifa-affiliated attack, where militants attempted to burn down the ICE facility on June 12. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree arson, two counts of reckless burning, and three counts of second-degree criminal mischief. Sidener pleaded not guilty to charges on July 7, court records show.

The offenses above were committed on city-owned property, which falls under the county's prosecutorial jurisdiction rather than federal.



In January, Sidener was arrested by the Portland Police Bureau for his role in a Rose City Antifa Inauguration attack in downtown Portland. He was booked into Multnomah County Jail on January 21 on charges including criminal mischief and resisting arrest. Sidener was quickly released from custody.

On August 8, Sidener was convicted of second-degree criminal mischief after pleading guilty to a plea deal, which dismissed the charge for resisting arrest, court records show. Multnomah County Judge Leslie Bottomly sentenced Sidener to one day in jail.





Sidener faces up to ten years in federal prison for his alleged role in damaging ICE facility property, according to the US District Attorney's Office in Oregon. As per the conditions of his release, Sidener has been prohibited from returning to a specific geographical area outside the ICE facility located on Macadam Avenue, which has been under siege by demonstrators, many of whom are involved with Antifa terror networks, since June 7.
