Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell is not only convinced that Epstein was murdered while in prison, but she is afraid that the same will happen to her.

Theories have been floating around about Epstein's cause of death, with many believing that he was killed in order to ensure that he would not release the names of his friends who partied with him on the so-called "Pedophile Island," The Sun reported.

It has raised eyebrows as to why the cameras were not functioning properly in his cell and why the guards on duty "falsified check," but there has still been no conclusive evidence as to who committed the crime if Epstein did not commit suicide.

Maxwell has been apparently fearing for her life, with The Sun reporting that her friends said that she had bodyguards around her before she was brought into custody "after receiving death threats."

Warders have described the New York jail where Maxwell is being held as a "hellhole," with The Sun reporting that another source said that the facility is "the same as Guantanamo Bay—lights on, noise and constant interruption of sleep."

Maxwell was denied bail after being deemed an "extreme flight risk," and could face up to 35 years in prison after pleading not guilty.

Her trial is set for July of 2021.
