Ex-Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has officially thrown her support behind embattled Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the upcoming elections.
Hillary's voice joins those of others in her camp, including former president Barack Obama, who expressed similar sentiments on Thursday in a similar tweet. Obama called Trudeau his "friend" and said he was "proud of the work we did together."
Clinton, of course, is also the wife of former President Bill Clinton, who served two terms from 1992 through 2000. She later served as Secretary of State under Obama during his presidency, and then participated in an unsuccessful run against Donald Trump for president in 2016.
Trudeau's administration has been having popularity problems, ironically and for various potential reasons, since he called the snap election on Aug. 15 2021.
Recent polls have resembled a veritable roller-coaster, as the Trudeau Liberal party dipped a full 10 points below the Conservative party at one point, with their popularity plummeting. They regained a slight lead shortly afterward, only to lose it again, and the latest poll whose results have been published has them once again behind the Conservatives by two points.
The election is now looming just around the corner, as it has been set for Sept. 20 2021, in just three short days' time.
