The House Judiciary Committee announced on Wednesday that they will be holding a hearing on July 24 to examine the FBI’s investigation into the attempted assassination of Donald Trump that took place at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.

The Oversight of the Federal Bureau of Investigation hearing will take place at 10 am and FBI Director Christopher Wray will be present as a witness. The hearing will also look into "the ongoing politicization of the nation’s preemptive law enforcement agency under the director of FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland."

The hearing is just one of many being scheduled following the attempted assassination. According to Politico, House Homeland Security Chair Mark Green has requested that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Wray appear before the panel on July 23. Cheatle is also expected to appear before the House Oversight Committee on July 22.

"It is imperative that we partner to understand what went wrong, and how Congress can work with the departments and agencies to ensure this never happens again. Successful oversight requires Congress to work together with these officials as they testify publicly before the House Committee on Homeland Security," Green said.

On Saturday, an assassination attempt was carried out by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks at a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump was hit in the ear, two other attendees were critically injured and a father was killed protecting his family. The FBI is leading the investigation into the assassination attempt.
