"The Vice President's words more closely resemble those of President Trump's second would-be assassin than her own earlier appeal to civility."

In a joint statement, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell urged Democrat presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris to cool it with the incendiary rhetoric. Harris keeps stepping out on the campaign trail to call Trump a fascist and essentially the reincarnation of Hitler. She and the Democrats have been beating this war drum for years but have stepped up the attacks as the polls get closer to closing in the 2024 election.

Johnson and McConnell did not blame Harris for the assassination attempts against Trump, one of which took the life of retired firefighter Corey Comperatore in Butler, PA, but called out Harris for stoking the flames of violence. After the first attempt on Trump's life, President Joe Biden called for the cessation of violence, saying "we cannot allow this violence to be normalized." After the second attempt, Harris said "we all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence."

"These words have proven hollow," the two said in their joint statement. "In the weeks since that second sobering reminder, the Democratic nominee for President of the United States has only fanned the flames beneath a boiling cauldron of political animus. Her most recent and most reckless invocations of the darkest evil of the 20th century seem to dare it to boil over. The Vice President's words more closely resemble those of President Trump's second would-be assassin than her own earlier appeal to civility."

When asked in a CNN town hall on Wednesday night Harris said that she fully believes that Trump is fascist, which can be defined as a nationalist who seeks to consolidate federal power and seize private lands for government use. Oddly, Trump has said repeatedly that he is interested in shrinking the size of the national government while Harris and Biden speak about increasing its size.

"Labeling a political opponent as a ‘fascist,’ risks inviting yet another would-be assassin to try robbing voters of their choice before Election Day," said Johnson and McConnell.

"Vice President Harris may want the American people to entrust her with the sacred duty of executive authority. But first, she must abandon the base and irresponsible rhetoric that endangers both American lives and institutions. We have both been briefed on the ongoing and persistent threats to former President Donald Trump by adversaries to the United States, and we call on the Vice President to take these threats seriously, stop escalating the threat environment, and help ensure President Trump has the necessary resources to be protected from those threats," they said in closing.

Harris held a press conference earlier this week in which she took no questions, using her three minutes before reporters to compare Trump to genocidal maniac Adolph Hitler, who murdered millions of Jews and Christians in his efforts to take over Europe. Pundits have also claimed that Trump is murdering women.
