Federal immigration authorities are looking for two individuals who allegedly tried to hit ICE officers with a vehicle during an enforcement operation Thursday in Colorado Springs.

According to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the incident occurred during an attempt to apprehend the suspects, who the agency says are in the country illegally. The situation escalated when the two individuals allegedly attempted to ram their vehicle into ICE personnel, reports KKTV.

"Two criminal aliens attempted to ram their vehicle into ICE officers during a targeted enforcement operation in Colorado Springs, Colorado, July 31. As a result of their violent actions and to protect the officers and agents onsite, an officer fired three shots into the vehicle. The aliens fled and later abandoned the vehicle. Law enforcement officials are currently searching for the fugitives.

"ICE officers are facing an 830% increase in assaults. Lies and violent rhetoric incites hostility against the brave men and women of ICE who put their lives on the line every day to protect American communities, as we witnessed in Colorado today," the statement from ICE says says.

No injuries are reported at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

ICE confirmed that one of its officers discharged a firearm during the confrontation. "ICE said one of the agency’s officers fired three shots into the vehicle, and the suspects fled and later abandoned the vehicle," reports KKTV.

At the time of the last update, the suspects remained at large. "

No injuries were reported, and ICE stated that the incident remains under investigation.
