Idaho massacre suspect was 'very chatty' and 'not charming,' neighbors say

"He asked me what I was studying, where I am from. He would make just friendly small talk" the suspect's neighbor said, later adding there was "Nothing suspicious ever, ever," about the alleged murderer.

Several students at  Washington State University described the 28-year-old accused of slaughtering four University of Idaho students in the early morning on November 13, Bryan Kohberger, as a "chatty" guy.

According to Insider, Kohberger lived in the Steptoe Village Apartments and his upstairs neighbor, 28-year-old engineering student Arun Dash, said when he met the suspect, "He asked me what I was studying, where I am from. He would make just friendly small talk" and later added there was "Nothing suspicious ever, ever," about the alleged murderer.

On December 30, Kohberger was arrested for the murders of 20-year-old Xana Kernodle, her boyfriend 20-year-old Ethan Chapin, 21-year-old Madison Mogen, and 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves.

Dash's roommate, who asked to remain anonymous, said, "He (Kohberger) talked to everybody, he was a very chatty person — not charming, but outgoing."

"He would ask me to hang out," the unnamed roommate added and said he asked Kohberger to work out because, "He seemed like a very fit person, so I asked if he wanted to come to my gym with me."

The anonymous roommate claimed he eventually started to avoid Kohberger as he was too loquacious. "I know if I start, he won’t stop," the student said.

Unlike Kohberger's upstairs neighbors, his downstairs neighbors said he was an insomniac.

According to the New York Post, Kohberger's neighbors underneath him, a couple with a newborn baby, said he was an insomniac who would run his "garbage disposal until 4 am."

A woman on TikTok recently came forward to say she went on a date with Kohberger and said that during the course of the night he tried to "gaslight" her by trying to touch and "tickle" her and then deny he was doing it.

According to Yahoo! News, at a routine medical checkup on November 17, four days after the slaughter of the students, Kohberger  was "nice and charming."

Kohberger was a graduate student at Washington State University pursuing his PhD in criminology and had graduated from Pennsylvania’s DeSales University in June of 2022 with a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice.

On Thursday last week, police in Moscow, Idaho released an affidavit in court which said Kohberger left his DNA at the crime scene on the sheath of a Ka-Bar brand knife.
