"America first means the American people first."
Posobiec appeared on Steve Bannon's War Room and laid down his thoughts on the issue that has divided some Republicans: "I saw Axios this morning describing it as a 'civil war.' It's not a firefight. This isn't a civil war. This is a clarification. We are clarifying a few things. What does America first actually mean? Does America first mean something based on — I don't know — spreadsheets? Does it mean an abstract number that people can pluck out of some study somewhere? No, no, no, absolutely not. America first means the American people first."
"Want to be very clear about that, because it seems like some people still do not get this, even after all these years, America first means the American people first. We are not vaccine first. We are not tech company first. We are not military-industrial complex first. No, we are American people first," he added. H-1B visas have often been used at tech companies in order to recruit foreign workers from overseas.
The comments from Posobiec come as Trump allies Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have divided some in the GOP on the topic of H-1B visas. Posobiec later added that the MAGA movement has centered around immigration and added it is not about "importing cheap labor from overseas."
Both Musk and Ramaswamy, who have been tapped by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), have come out defending the use of H-1B visas in order to optimize businesses in the US. In a similar segment from War Room, Mark Krikorian, the Executive director for the Center for Immigration Studies, tore into H-1B visas as a process that does not bring the best and brightest from overseas, as Musk and Ramaswamy have advocated.
Krikorian said that the application process for H-1B visas are "given out by lottery" which means that that in the 85,000 that are given out, the US "end[s] up with is a lot of mediocre talents."
