"Some people have actually been talking about impeaching President Elon Musk."
Raskin appeared on MSNBC when he made the comments, saying that Musk would be "impeached immediately" if he were president, alleging that Musk is "taking billions of dollars in foreign government emoluments from all over the world."
"And some people have actually been talking about impeaching President Elon Musk, right now, you know on the theory that he's usurped the powers of the presidency," the Democratic lawmaker added.
In the interview with MSNBC host Michael Steele, Raskin added that Musk has "much bigger plans than Donald Trump" and wants something like a "techno-state monarchy."
"Obviously, Elon Musk has much bigger plans than Donald Trump, who, you know, we know just wants to become the richest person in the world and get all the attention. But Elon Musk would really like to completely overthrow our system of government and move us into some kind of techno monarchy under the geniuses of Silicon Valley," Raskin said.
Raskin, who was one of the Democratic lawmakers on the January 6 Committee, previously said that Congress would have the responsibility to "disqualify" Trump from the presidency if he was elected in 2024. Musk has been moving fast under the direction of Trump to cut costs as well as size down the scope of government and other Democratic lawmakers have protested the moves by Musk by showing up to government buildings where cuts have been slated to be made.
