Joe Exotic, big cat enthusiast and star of the Netflix series Tiger King, has been placed in self-isolation after multiple inmates at the prison he is in tested positive for the coronavirus.

Exotic was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the attempted hiring of a hitman to kill Carole Baskin.

“He’s been cut off from phones, but Joe is somebody who has always wanted to be a star, and so he’s very excited for this to have captured people’s attention the way it did," said Tiger King co-creator Chaiklin to The Hollywood reporter.

They said that Exotic is incarcerated and has been "put into isolation, so he's actually not available" to speak with them.

Exotic himself tested negative for the coronavirus.

“He was transferred to a federal penitentiary in Texas and they had to put him in isolation when that transfer took place,” said co-creator Eric Good.

According to NBC, Exotic has been transferred to a prison medical centre in Fort Worth, TX.
