Harris' VP pick is expected to make an appearance at her Philly rally next week on Tuesday. Josh Shapiro has confirmed that he will be there.
Shapiro is one of a few left who could be on the Harris ticket as the Democrat campaign heads into August, and he confirmed that he will be at Harris' rally on August 6 next Tuesday, but his role in being there is still not clear, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The outlet reported that he plans on being there in attendance for the event, but said that the VP pick for Harris is a "deeply personal decision" for her. He declined to comment on whether or not he would be meeting with Harris over the weekend prior to the rally.
ABC7 reported that Harris is nearing her decision on a running mate and that she is expected to make the choice by next Tuesday evening when the rally in Philly takes place. She is also expected to be with her running mate at that Tuesday rally.
Harris was formally chosen as the Democratic nominee through a "virtual roll call" on Friday without winning a single Democrat primary. DNC Chair Jaime Harrison praised Harris for securing the necessary delegates without her actually going through the primary process.
Shapiro as a choice for Harris' running mate may anger progressives who are pro-Palestinian, as he is Jewish and served time as an Israeli Defense Forces volunteer.
