Trump announced that Zelensky is ready to "make a deal."
According to Fox News, Trump announced that Zelensky is ready to "make a deal" to end the war with Putin. This comes after Trump said earlier today that he wants to meet with Putin.
When White House press pool reporters asked questions of Trump after he made the comment about if Zelensky was ready, Trump added, “He’s ready to negotiate a deal.”
“He's [Zelensky] somebody that has lost a lot of soldiers, and so did Russia, lost a lot. Russia lost more soldiers,” Trump added. He answered the press questions after signing multiple executive orders, including to pardon pro-life activists given sentences under the FACE Act by Biden's DOJ among others executive actions.
The president said that Russia has lost 800,000 soldiers during the war. The escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine was in February 2022, when Russia invaded. Since then, the US has been aiding Ukraine in the conflict with funds and weaponry.
Earlier this week, Trump posted on Truth Social, "I love the Russian people, and always had a very good relationship with President Putin - and this despite the Radical Left’s Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX. We must never forget that Russia helped us win the Second World War, losing almost 60,000,000 lives in the process. All of that being said, I’m going to do Russia, whose Economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big FAVOR. Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War! IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE. If we don’t make a 'deal,' and soon."
He later added, "We can do it the easy way, or the hard way - and the easy way is always better. It’s time to 'MAKE A DEAL.' NO MORE LIVES SHOULD BE LOST!!!"
Trump has promised to and ran on a platform of bringing the war to an end between the two countries during his 2024 campaign.
