Harris' plan outlines that taxpayers will subsidize first-time home buyers up to $25,000 for down-payments and that she will work to "end the unreasonable burden of student loan debt."

Vice President Kamala Harris has finally launched her policy plans on her campaign website just ahead of her first and perhaps only debate with Donald Trump and over a month after she became the Democratic nominee. Harris doubled down on price controls and support for the border bill that would allow at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants into the country each year. She also backed gun bans, promised to advance "environmental justice," and to "end the suffering in Gaza," among other leftist positions.

According to the issues section of Harris' website, she has doubled down on a "federal ban on corporate price gouging on food and groceries," which economists have slammed as socialist-style price controls. Grocers usually operate on razor-thin profit margins, 1-3 percent, and raise or lower prices in tandem with supply and demand as the market is very competitive.

Many have been critical of the proposed policy as it could lead to shortages, much like price control policies have in other countries such as the Soviet Union, Venezuela, and other places. Last month, a CNN contributor said, "We‘ve seen this kind of thing tried in lots of other countries before. Venezuela, Argentina, the Soviet Union." Other legacy media outlets ripped into Harris for proposing the policy.

Additionally, Harris doubled down on her support for the border bill that Senate Democrats attempted to push through Congress earlier this year. The bill would allow at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants into the country each year. Harris has previously voiced her support for the bill that would expedite processing of illegal immigrants into the US rather than prevent them from coming in.

If passed into law, the measure would codify provisions that would allow for nearly any illegal immigrant to come into the country if they take a couple specific steps, just as with the exective action that the Biden-Haris administrating took in April. The CBP One app would be allowed under the bill as a form of identification, however, those that use the CBP One app to come into the US can do so without having any documentation of their identity.

On guns, Harris' website proposes that "she’ll ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines" for everyday Americans. Harris has previously supported a "mandatory buyback program" for some kinds of guns, meaning they would essentially be confiscated from American citizens.

Harris' policy also stated that she and Joe Biden are "working to end the war in Gaza, such that Israel is secure, the hostages are released, the suffering in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can realize their right to dignity, security, freedom, and self-determination." Months after the Oct. 7 massacre, when Hamas' last stronghold was in Rafah, Harris said that she wouldn't rule out "consequences" for Israel if the Israeli Defense Forces went into Rafah to take out the last of Hamas and save the hostages. Six hostages, including an American, were found executed by Hamas in tunnels beneath Gaza.

Harris' plan outlines that taxpayers will subsidize first-time home buyers up to $25,000 for down-payments, will work to "end the unreasonable burden of student loan debt," and touted her record of being the tie-breaking vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, which many have seen as a green energy boondoggle instead of a bill to reduce inflation.
