Katy Perry has won her long-running legal battle over the Montecito, California, mansion she purchased more than five years ago. Carl Westcott, an 85-year-old disabled veteran and the former owner of the property, will be required to pay Perry $1.84 million after a judge ruled the singer lost rental income during the dispute.

Perry and her former fiancé Orlando Bloom bought the home from Westcott in 2020 for $15 million. The mansion sits on a 2.5-acre property and includes eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and ocean views. Days after the purchase, Westcott attempted to rescind the deal and cited mental incapacity, noting he had been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease in 2015. Perry and Bloom countered that the sale was valid, and that Westcott understood the agreement. Perry’s business manager argued that Westcott had seller’s remorse and believed he could have made more money from the property.

Perry gained ownership of the residence in May 2024 after a lengthy legal battle. A judge found there was no persuasive evidence to support Westcott’s claims and said he appeared “coherent, engaged, lucid and rational.” Perry later sued Westcott for $5 million, arguing she lost rental value and incurred necessary repair costs, according to People.

Judge Joseph Lipner of the Superior Court of the State of California in Los Angeles County ruled on Tuesday that Perry is owed $1,842,142.84, in addition to an approved amount for repair expenses.

It is unclear whether Perry and Bloom ever moved into the mansion after obtaining ownership in May 2024. According to People, the pair began renting the property in February.

More recently, instead of being seen with Bloom, Perry has been seen dating former Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
