Former elite cyclist Lance Armstong announced on Saturday his new series called "The Forward," which dives into all sides of the debate surrounding trans-identified males in female sports. The first episode is set to air on Monday.

In a video posted on Twitter, the famed cyclist talks about meeting up with former male Olympian Caitlyn Jenner, previously called Bruce, to begin the conversation around trans-identifying athletes. "As someone all too familiar with this phenomenon, I feel I'm uniquely positioned to have these conversations," the post reads.

"Headed out to Caitlyn Jenner's house to have a conversation in and around trans and sport," he said in the video. "I think with sensitive conversations and topics that people tend to do either really, really comes down to they're really afraid to be fired, shamed or canceled."

"Turns out I'm not afraid of that," Armstrong added. "I think it's an important conversation and... especially I think it can be handled in this way... I also think the best way to have these conversations and get to a more, to get to a smarter conclusion or have a smarter conversation is just to go in fearless..."

The video concludes with Jenner sitting down ready getting ready for the interview. The former cyclist continued the Twitter thread, "Of all the controversial and polarizing subjects out there today, I'm not sure there are any as heated as the topic of Trans athletes in sport."

"Is there not a world in which one can be supportive of the transgender community and curious about the fairness of Trans athletes in sport yet not be labeled a transphobe or a bigot as we ask questions? Do we yet know the answers? And do we even want to know the answers?" he asked.

He ended the thread with, "I truly hope you enjoy this series. And I hope that for those who have been reluctant to have this conversation, this somehow feels safe. Be fearless."

Armstrong is no stranger to controversy when it comes to fairness in sports. The former cyclist had his seven consecutive Tour de France titles stripped from him after being caught doping.

As a trans-identified individual, Jenner has been outspoken about keeping male athletes out of female sports since voicing his objection in a May 2021 TMZ video. "This is a question of fairness. That's why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls' sports in school. It just isn't fair. And we have to protect girls' sports in our school," Jenner said.

In April, Jenner launched the Fairness First PAC to keep males out of female sports. The website reads, "We are a movement, non-partisan in nature, with the intention of empowering parental rights, especially in light of radical gender ideology infiltrating our children in school - especially in sports and the classroom. We value protecting young children, and the parental rights associated with having your young child go through the indoctrinating instruction in school and unfair advantages of biological boys competing against girls in sports."

Trans-identified male athletes in female sports have been a topic of great conversation in the last few years. Earlier this year, the Biden administration sought public comment on his making changes to Title IX so it would protect gender identity rather than sex. A poll in March showed that 77% of Americans say that would be harmful to women's sports.
