Following former head of trust and safety at Twitter, Yoel Roth, finally claiming that censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020 was a mistake, former Trump Advisor Steve Bannon has slammed the former Twitter head, calling him a "liar."

"He is a LIAR," Bannon posted to the social media platform Gettr. "Twitter knew full well that the Laptop was real actionable information—They Knew it was Real .. and Twitter Executives SUPPRESSED it …"

Speaking with journalist Kara Swisher at the Knight Foundation’s Informed 2022 conference, Roth said it was a "mistake" that the platform censored the now infamous Hunter Biden "laptop from hell" story, which the New York Post broke in October of 2020.

"We didn’t know what to believe, we didn’t know what was true, there was smoke — and ultimately for me, it didn’t reach a place where I was comfortable removing this content from Twitter," Roth said.

"But it set off every single one of my finely tuned APT28 hack and leak campaign alarm bells. Everything about it looked like a hack and leak."

Swisher continued on to press Roth as to whether he thought censoring the story was a mistake, to which he eventually said, "in my opinion, yes."

Roth had also started off by "debunking a little bit of misinformation," stating that he personally did not direct the suppression of the laptop story.

"It is absolutely, unequivocally untrue," he said.

However, Twitter CEO Elon Musk said on Wednesday that Twitter had definitely interferred with elections, though he did not go into further detail.

Roth’s comments come as Twitter owner Elon Musk is set to release files related to Twitter’s "free speech suppression."

Musk has also promised to make public all conversations behind the scenes at Twitter regarding the decision to censor the story, saying it is "necessary to restore public truth."
