Libertarian Party of NH calls for the assassination of all elected Dems in the state

The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire called for the assassination of “basically every” Democrat official in the state in a post on X. The post was later removed from the platform for violating rules and policies.

On Tuesday, the party’s account was responding to a comment from a user when it wrote, “We openly support the assassination of basically every elected Democrat in New Hampshire. But if you don’t have the balls to do that then you should probably vote GOP.”

The post was no longer available on X as of Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office told New Hampshire Public Radio that the state’s DOJ is “aware of the social media posts” and declined to comment.

The post is the latest in a series of controversial statements from the New Hampshire group’s social media account. In 2024, the account posted that “anyone who murders Kamala Harris would be an American hero.”

Earlier this year, the account said that it was “perfectly permissible to kill” a certain former executive councilor who proposed a state income tax. The group subsequently said in a statement that "LPNH believes that New Hampshire is healthier and freer when anyone who would enact an income tax fears for their life."

The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire is chaired by former Senate candidate Jeremy Kauffman. Back in May, the group lost its national affiliation with the Libertarian Party, saying the New Hampshire group is not representative of the national party.

The Libertarian Party posted a statement on X in response to the incident, saying it does not "condone calls for political violence or the initiation of force."

"The organization in New Hampshire currently making violent extremist comments is not affiliated with the Libertarian Party and does not speak for our party," the party wrote. "Political and social change must be pursued through peaceful, voluntary means — not violence, threats, or aggression."

New Hampshire Republican Governor Kelly Ayotte also responded to the post in a statement, saying, “This type of behavior is irresponsible and dangerous. Violent rhetoric has no place in our politics, and threats like this should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
