Chicago teenagers will now be legally required to be home before 10 pm on weekend nights, in the wake of a recent mass shooting involving two enemy gangs.

"Mayor Lori Lightfoot is implementing a 10pm curfew for Chicago teenagers on weekends," simply says the Chicago Tribune's Gregory Pratt:

Chicago, which has for a long time been the stage for vicious gang warfare which often kills or injures the innocent, has been spiraling even further out of control on Lightfoot's watch, especially since the start of the pandemic.

Chicago's minors have actually been under an 11 pm curfew for a very long time, and the change implemented by Lightfoot will simply move it back an hour in time. Lightfoot herself acknowledges this, saying: "The curfew for young people is 11 pm on the weekend. This is, as I have said, been in place for several decades. We're changing that."

Lightfoot continued with:

"Today, I'm signing an executive order to move that curfew back to 10 pm, and I'm urging parents, guardians and responsible adults in the lives of children to make sure that you know what the rules are, and you make a plan with your children and young people to make sure that they safely abide by this curfew that's been in effect for a very long time."
