Financial penalties are being imposed on people who engaged in protests in Canada. Per Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland, those protestors who brought their big rigs to Ottawa, or who organized the protest against vaccine mandates, will be subject to penalties such as having their bank accounts frozen.
Freeland said that "...all crowdfunding platforms and the payment service providers they use must register with Fintrac, and they must report large and suspicious transactions to Fintrac." This, she said, is a way to "mitigate the risk" of "illicit funds" and "increase the quality and quantity of intelligence received by Fintrac and make more information available to support investigations by law enforcement." Further, the Trudeau government will bring legislation to make these mechanisms of financial surveillance permanent so that individuals no longer have the right to privacy in banking, transactions, or currency.
This is being done prior to charges being laid, arrests, a trial, conviction, or a sentence. Financial punishment is being meted out without any regard for due process. The lesson for Canadians is that if they oppose vaccine mandates they will be punished extrajudicially.
If vaccine mandates, and the proof that is then required, are being linked to finances punitively, there is no reason to believe that this rollout of requirements isn't a precursor to further demands for compliance and a greater, tighter grab on power by progressive leaders in the west.
Speaking to Joe Rogan, Maajid Nawaz, a reformed Islamic extremist, spoke about this potential and the real-world terms in which it is being rolled out. It's being rolled out without the people's representatives having a say, despite the governments undertaking this being democracies that are supposed to serve the people, not rule them.
Nawaz detailed the new system. "So the vaccine passport infrastructure is in place. But now we know that the vaccine doesn't stop infection or transmission but the Checkpoint Charlie exists everywhere. They bring in digital banking, central banking, digital currencies. You've got a scenario now that you're checking in and out everywhere you go, using vouchers that are programmed and you can only spend where you're told you can spend them.
"There's another word for that. That's called the Chinese social credit system. That's what it's called. And anyone who watches Black Mirror will know what I'm talking about," Nawaz said.
"So what they are telling us, and when I say they, who's they, people in power, that's the head of our economy, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the second most powerful person other than the prime minister, and maybe the foreign secretary in the UK, right?
"He's telling us I just played it there for you. He's telling us that's what he, as the UK, the head of the G7 want to bring in for the G7. So a scenario where like in New York at the moment, because the passport infrastructure is in place, you bring in that digital currency, and you've got this total control. And if I'm speaking to you the way I'm speaking now, and my employer or government... deems me as saying or doing something inappropriate, suddenly, I can't actually pay to come here and speak to you anymore. My digital currency won't even pay for the ticket. Because it will be known that I'm coming to speak to you, 'sorry, your vouchers don't allow you to purchase that ticket to go and speak to Joe.'"
"And this is where we get into the kind of censorship that we see in social media," Rogan replied. "You can't have that kind of censorship with the First Amendment in normal discourse, but you can have that kind of censorship if you've developed a digital platform that distributes information, but it's a private company. So think about what money is, you can spend it on whatever you want, versus this digital currency, which is essentially controlled. In a sense, like you have free speech on Twitter, but you really don't because if you go too far, or you talk about something that they don't find appropriate, they'll just ban your account. That could be what we're looking at in terms of what we think of as free speech being social media platforms, could be what we think of as your free range ability to buy whatever you want with whatever money that you've earned."
Nawaz noted that the groundwork for all of this has already been laid. "If you get to a point like New York is today, Wales and Scotland, where you're telling me that I need to show identification before going into a restaurant, before going into a hotel, concert. We've got a 'papers please' society," he said, noting that "you can't go to a 'papers please' society, from a democracy, within one election term, without having any consultation with the public on this, and without having a proper and informed debate about how this will permanently change the culture of our society.
"And that's for me a bigger problem. I mean, the science is clear, as I say, but let's have this entire conversation on the assumption that when they initially brought it in, they were genuine, right? Even though now it's proven that that's not the case. But that's fine. I'm willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. You want me to concede that from now on and permanently, the state can tell me what to put in my body for the sake of the common good, and to continue to do so every six months, with a vaccination that hasn't been tested for any long term side effects. I just have to accept that the state knows what's best for me and almost does the right thing," Nawaz said.
Twitter user 6529 explored similar ideas in a lengthy thread, noting poignantly that the kind of control able to be grasped by current rulers who eschew democracy in favor of their own power is one that not even our world's most notorious dictators could have imagined. Central banks, in association with progressive leaders who claim to be driven by compassion are intent on wielding this power at the expense of our freedom.
He also notes that without the "freedom to transact," our other rights are impossible to act upon.
The coronavirus pandemic has been used by western governments to tighten their control over individuals, institutions, organizations, and national borders. Those who govern these nations clearly have no intention of relinquishing their ill-gained, crisis-inspired power. As those like Nawaz raise the alarm, it's impossible not to wonder if these sirens come too late to save individual liberty and preserve democratic freedom.
