The manifesto “revealed his significant animosity towards the Catholic church, members of the Jewish faith, members of SCOTUS and ICE/ ICE facilities."
Louis Geri, 41, from Arizona as well as New Jersey, was detained on Sunday at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle on October 5 held its annual "Red Mass" where a prayer is said that the high court will perform well in its new term. The service is historically attended by the justices.
When police were attempting to clear the area ahead of the event, Geri was in a tent at the steps of the church, where he told authorities, “You might want to stay back and call the federales, I have explosives," per a police report, according to the Daily Wire. When police tried to remove him, the suspect replied, “Several of your people are gonna die from one of these." He then gave them several sheets of paper in a manifesto called, "Written Negotiations for the Avoidance of Destruction of Property via Detonation of Explosives."
According to police, the manifesto “revealed his significant animosity towards the Catholic church, members of the Jewish faith, members of SCOTUS and ICE/ ICE facilities." Geri "shifted his right thumb over top of the butane lighter to initiate the lighting action and stated, ‘You better have these people step away or there’s going to be deaths.'”
After he left the tent to urinate, the suspect was taken into custody by officers. He said he had a detonation device in his pocket, and “a vial with a white cap, which contained yellow liquid inside, with an M-device taped to the exterior," police records said.
Following his arrest, the bomb squad found “a large cache of handmade destructive devices” in the tent. Geri was hit with a slew of charges, including unlawful entry, the manufacturing, transfer, use, possession or transportation of Molotov Cocktails, or other explosives for unlawful purposes, assault on police, threats to injure, as well as others.
He is being held in jail without bond. When police reviewed the evidence, they found that there were over 200 devices recovered from D-1’s tent. There was a strong smell of acetone emitting from some of the vials. Some of the liquid was determined to be Nitro Methane. The liquid appeared to be multiple chemicals mixed together, none in original containers … the devices appeared to be fully functional."
