Miley Cyrus wants to play 'punk-rock Juliet' as she seeks return to acting

Singer Miley Cyrus is looking to get back to acting, and says that she would love to play a “punk-rock Juliet.” She made the comments as the guest editor in the newest edition of Wonderland Magazine.

Within the issue, Cyrus talked about her next steps in her career, and it has been confirmed that she has signed on with Atlantic Records after releasing two albums with Columbia, per Variety.

She talked about what she plans to do next in her music career. “For me, a song isn’t just chords, melody, and lyrics. It’s a feeling,” she said. “It’s not right or wrong like an answer. It’s alive. It almost becomes its own little entity that tells you what it needs if you’re listening. I love making records with people who aren’t precious about ideas. Everyone is there because they’re excited by the same thing. There’s no ego in the room when it’s working. Just curiosity. It’s really special to be surrounded by people who want to surprise each other and are comfortable throwing an idea away or expanding on it.”

However, she does not plan to stick to just music. Speaking with Daryl Hannah in a wide-ranging conversation, she was asked about the possibility of going back to acting or having directing roles.

“Well…That’s partly why I wanted to get in touch. I’d genuinely love to do both. My dream has always been to work with artists I admire, and you’re one of them. I think we’d make magic together, Daryl. I have an idea. Call me.’”

When she was asked about what her dream character would be, she added, “Violence is everywhere, and there’s a beauty in darkness, but I’d love to disappear into something deeply romantic,” she said. “The kind of love we dream about, but with real stakes. A good old Shakespearean tragedy would be hot – a punk-rock Juliet. Something fierce and heartbreakingly romantic.”

The artist made headlines recently on the topic of romance, or the lack thereof, during a podcast conversation with Monica Lewinsky—the former intern of Bill Clinton with whom he had an affair.

She said to Lewisnky that her dating life has been hard when she would publicize her sexuality.

“When I would try to date when I was dating, or who I was engaged to at the time, that didn't work out because I was sharing a part of myself that men wanted saved for them only, and the fact that I would, you know, pose nude or dance in very little clothes, or show my body was making them feel like I was taking something away that was meant to be for them,” she said.

“So I would have really hard times dating, and it was just, it was really hard. It was really hard for me to go home and see my dad and like look him in the eyes and not feel super embarrassed.”
