The sign now reads "Quality Learning Center" as was originally intended.
The daycare has been able to finally fix the well-known typo after national outrage over allegations of fraud in Minnesota linked to the Somali community.
The sign now reads "Quality Learning Center" as it was originally intended to, a video from the New York Post showed. Although Minnesota state officials had claimed that the center had closed last week, there were many children present at the facility on Monday.
One resident on Monday said it was the first time they had ever seen children at the facility. “We’ve never seen kids go in there until today. That parking lot is empty all the time, and I was under the impression that place is permanently closed,” the individual told reporters.
The center reportedly received $1.9 million from the Minnesota government in Fiscal Year 2025. According to CBS News, the daycare center told officials late on Monday that they plan to remain open after the scandal brought on by Shirley's reporting.
Shirley, who has over 1 million subscribers on YouTube, posted a 42-minute video to X over the weekend to report on fraud allegations taking place in Minnesota. He and an older local named David, who has spent years digging into the allegations, traveled around Minnesota to several daycare and healthcare centers that did not look like they were in operation.
David, citing government grant records, displayed funding in the millions that some of the centers had received for Fiscal Year 2025.
