Twitter has been on a banning spree, suspending or banning accounts that call out "grooming" behavior on the site. Author and mathematician James Lindsay was banned for saying "ok, groomer," YouTuber Tim Pool was locked out of his account for saying "Twitter actively protects and supports pedophilia," and now Moms for Liberty has been suspended, pending appeal, for speaking against the medical gender transition of children.
"These are self evident truths," Moms for Liberty's Tiffany Justice told The Post Millennial regarding the ban. "But a series of overwhelming pressures, at the same time allowing only a very limited set of alternatives for adapting to them is making it impossible to tell the truth. The truth has become hate speech on Twitter. There are no conversations anymore."
Moms for Liberty, an advocacy group for parents and kids that recently held their first conference in Tampa, Fla., posted "Gender dysphoria is a mental health disorder that is being normalized by predators across the USA."
"California kids are at extreme risk from predatory adults. Now they want to 'liberate' children all over the country. Does a double mastectomy on a preteen sound like progress?" they asked.
The tweet was a reference to a bill proposed in California by state lawmaker Scott Weiner, who also pushed for biological males to be housed in women's prisons on the basis of self-ID alone. The bill would prevent California from extraditing persons wanted in other states for breaking the laws of those states as regards the medical gender transition of minors, but it would also permit minors from across the US to go to California to seek medical gender transition without parental approval.
Moms for Liberty has been outspoken about the need to reconsider the rapid pace by which children who "come out" as transgender are pushed into, or given access to, drugs and surgeries that will change the course of their lives forever. In the cases of children who are given puberty blockers prior to the Tanner 2 stage of development and then go on to cross-sex hormones, sexual satisfaction will never be a reality.
But for Twitter, saying that children should not be permitted to seek medical gender transition without parental approval and that the state should not facilitate the removal of healthy body parts in service to an ideology, is considered hate speech.
Twitter claimed that the account was limited for "violating our rules against hateful conduct." The belief by whoever flagged this tweet was that it promoted "violence," or was a threat on the basis of "gender identity." What Moms for Liberty are really doing is trying to protect kids from doctors that would encourage or facilitate the application of drugs or surgeries that will result in a loss of sexual function and sterility, among other complications.
Twitter makes great haste in banning or suspending accounts that do not uphold the idea that "trans women are women," or that question the legitimacy of trans ideology and gender identity for children. The Babylon Bee was suspended for saying that Dr. Rachel Levine, a biological male, is a man, while Dr. Jordan Peterson was suspended for saying that actor Elliot Page used to be a Hollywood actress, and stating the name the actor held at that time.
Moms for Liberty have asked for an appeal in their case rather than delete the tweet outright. It is unclear at whom Twitter believes the account was directing hate. Was it at the young women who aim to have their breasts removed because they think they are males? Or the doctors who do the surgical removals? Or perhaps the hate was at California legislators, who are comfortable allowing children in their state and across the country to destroy their bodies without even a note home to parents.
Moms for Liberty goes to great lengths to look out for kids and families, while Twitter appears to do whatever they can to uphold the fantasy that biological sez is neither innate nor immutable, but a changeable, glittery condition able to be morphed and mutated through drugs and surgeries or even through declaration alone.
