An MSNBC panel has blamed the "white Barbie" lawyers prosecuting the Sean "Diddy" Combs case for why the rapper was not found guilty on one count of racketeering conspiracy as well as two counts of sex trafficking. He was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

On Wednesday, following the verdict that saw the three most serious charges against Combs dismissed, legal commentator for MSNBC Lisa Rubin argued while appearing on Ana Cabrera Reports that the race as well as the gender of the white, female prosecutors helped him in the trial. "I think both the gender and the racial dynamics are worth talking about," Rubin said, per the Daily Mail.

"I saw all six of the prosecutors on this team walk from their office... And they filed in a single-file line. And they are all white women, to a person—six of them. And they almost look like lawyer Barbies proceeding as they were walking to the court," she added. "It's not lost on me that, particularly given who the defendant was, and in a jury that not only was mixed by gender but had, from my count, at least seven people of color on it, that that dynamic may not have gone over particularly well with them."

In her comments, she went on to claim that the "Barbie" prosecutors "may have really turned off some of the jurors here who were looking for someone they could identify with, who were looking to someone who sounded and looked like them."

Fellow legal analyst for MSNBC Charles Coleman on the panel agreed with Rubin, and added, "I think that people have to understand jury dynamics when you're talking about New York or any other jurisdiction for that matter."

Combs was denied bail after the conviction, with the judge saying that the court "sees no reason to reverse" prior orders to deny him bail. "At trial, the defense conceded defendant’s violence in personal relationships saying ‘it happened’ in relation to Cassie Venture and Jane," the judge added.

Fans of the rapper outside the courthouse sprayed themselves with baby oil to celebrate the not guilty verdicts on the more severe charges. The prosecution has said that Combs should serve over 5 years, while the defense said 21 months in prison would suffice for the lesser charges.
