Shortly after Donald Trump was declared the winner of the 2024 election in the early hours of Wednesday, cadets at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington were heard shouting and cheering.

"The winner of the 2024 presidential election is Donald J Trump," a man announced over a loudspeaker at 1:48 am local time. The announcement was immediately met with screams and cheers from those in the barracks.

Trump was declared the winner in the early hours of Wednesday morning, reaching the 270 electoral college votes after winning a few key swing states. In the days since the election, Trump was declared the winner of all seven swing states.

Trump was endorsed by over 200 retired admirals and generals, and Trump vowed on the campaign trail to reinstate every military member who had been fired for refusing to take the Covid vaccine, along with backpay and an apology from the federal government.

Failed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, on the other hand, was said to have "lied to the entire world" during the September 10 presidential debate when she claimed that there is “not one member of the US military in active duty in a combat zone — in any war zone around the world." Her running mate, Tim Walz, was frequently accused of lying about his service record.

Trump has vowed to end the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict "very quickly" in his second term, a conflict that the Biden-Harris administration has sent over billions. Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group that attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing over 1,200 people taking taking hundreds more hostage, has called for an "immediate" end to the war following Trump’s presidential victory.
