It has been revealed that Nancy Pelosi met with Joe Biden last week and informed him that she believed it would be better for Democrats if he stepped down and allowed someone else to take his place at the head of the party. Sources familiar with the matter told Politico that while the former House speaker stopped short of demanding that he resign that day, she plans on doing everything she can to make it so.

Pelosi is just the latest to join the chorus of prominent Democrats calling on Biden to consider stepping down. Following his performance at the debate against Donald Trump in June, party members and voters alike have expressed concern over his ability to carry out the duties of president.

One of the sources explained that Pelosi felt as though Biden is bringing the party down, and "does not want to call on him to resign, but she will do everything in her power to make sure it happens." Another source broke down the former House speaker's thought process, saying, "There's nothing subtle about Nancy. She starts with the question: 'What's it take to win?' Then works backwards."

When pressed on the details of the interaction, Pelosi's office told Politico that she hadn't spoken with Biden since she returned to California on Friday, with a spokesperson saying the aforementioned sources "are not good sources." Pelosi herself is 84 years old.

On Wednesday, ABC News' Jonathan Karl revealed that during a meeting in Delaware over the weekend, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had "forcefully made the case that it would be better for Biden, better for the Democratic Party, and better for the country if he were to bow out of the race."

Karl explained that Schumer's office expressed "absolutely no denial" about what he had allegedly said, adding that his sources told him Democratic House leader Hakeem Jeffries "expressed similar views directly to the president."

"I am told that the pressure from Democratic leaders for Biden to get out of the race has intensified," Karl added. "One person who has been out there publicly defending Biden told me just a short while ago Biden is going to see the whole house of cards come down soon."
