York Regional Police are praising a brave neighbour with a ladder who saved two children from a burning Toronto-area home.

Police say they were called to a home at 5 am on Warby Trail in Newmarket, responding to a house fire, according to CTV News.

Prior to police arrival, a brave neighbour hoisted a ladder into the burning home, and rescued two children.

A witness told CTV News that all four occupants of the home were stuck on the second floor balcony, and believes they were unable to exit through the front door.

The neighbour then went to work. An investigation is underway.
