A former basketball coach from Riverview, New Brunswick pleaded guilty to charges of child pornography and sexual touching on Thursday, Global News reports.

Shawn Nickerson, 32, pleaded guilty to 31 charges, including producing child pornography and making child pornography available. The incidents all took place between 2016 and 2020.

Police documented more than 80 cases of Nickerson making pornography of identifiable children, with another 8 cases of unidentifiable children. A total of 20 victims have thus far been identified.

Nickerson's charges were built from a single child pornography charge brought against him in October. Within a month, it was discovered that Nickerson had committed significantly more crimes against children than previously thought.

The initial charges were eventually dropped, with new charges, which Nickerson pleaded guilty to, being filed in January.

He is expected in court for a sentencing hearing on Apr 9.
