"I'm ready to work with DOGE, Elon Musk, + Vivek Ramaswamy to slash waste."
Khanna wrote in a post to X, "I'm ready to work with DOGE, Elon Musk, + Vivek Ramaswamy to slash waste. I have a track record of doing so. I led the charge to get TransDigm to refund $16 million after investigative reporting exposed price-gouging. Let's look to the Truman Committee and ensure Americans get their money's worth with DOD spending."
Khanna's move to work with the two Trump nominees comes after the first Democratic lawmaker in Congress, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) said he would be joining the DOGE caucus.
When Moskowitz announced his intentions of working with the organization, he stated, "I will join the Congressional DOGE Caucus, because I believe that streamlining government processes and reducing ineffective government spending should not be a partisan issue. I've been clear that there are ways we can reorganize our government to make it work better for the American people."
Most Democratic lawmakers have not had interest in working with DOGE, but some, including Khanna as well as Moskowitz, have signaled curiosity, per Business Insider.
On the Senate side, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has also expressed some interest. He wrote on X about Musk cutting bloated military spending, "If you want to save taxpayer dollars, you do it not by cutting programs for hungry children, but by getting rid of the waste and fraud in the military."
Khanna, as well, has addressed the issue of military spending, and signaled to other Democrats, "If Musk is going to help bring accountability to defense contractors, that's something that Democrats should welcome."
