New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu is fed up with the Biden administration's illegal immigration crisis and announced that he has secured funds to take action along the state's northern border with Canada through the creation of a Northern Border Alliance Task Force.

On Thursday, Gov. Sununu said during a press brief that he has secured $1.4 million from the state's current budget that will go towards boosting state and local law enforcement patrols along the 58 miles of border the state shares with Canada. The course of action follows reports that illegal crossings in northern ports of entry have significantly increased within the past year, which includes encounters with individuals on terrorist watch lists.

With the recent Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel and the threats issued towards the United States of America as a result of the Israel-Hamas war, Gov. Sununu called the border crisis a "national security risk" and strongly stated he would not take any chances.

"Encounters with individuals on the terrorist watch list at the ports of entry on the northern border have doubled since 2017," Sununu said. "There have been more apprehensions along our northern border in just this past year than in the last ten years combined."

Furthermore, Gov. Sununu warned that the risks to national security "are becoming more and more obvious every day." As a result, Sununu said, "It is made very clear to us that we do need more targeted resources. We need to provide an all-hands-on-deck approach."

The governor and state attorney general John Formella unveiled the creation of the Northern Border Alliance Task Force, which will be a partnership between state, county, and local law enforcement, including forest rangers and Fish and Game officers. The departments will increase border patrol hours from 55 per month to 10,000 hours in the next 18 months, according to Fox News.

Gov. Sununu lambasted the Biden administration and said the White House has repeatedly denied the state's requests for help.

"We asked the federal government for help. We’ve been denied," he said. "There's nothing that’s come from the federal government. No additional efforts out of the federal government."

Data shows that illegal encounters have significantly increased along the northern border from Washington state to Maine within the most recent fiscal year. There have been 7,633 encounters through the end of July, compared to 2,238 for all of Fiscal year 2022. There were 916 encounters in all of 2021, according to the network.

As for the US-Southern border, there have been more than 2 million illegal crossings within the past year, with more than 6 million encounters since Joe Biden became president in 2021.
