"If they want the name of the individual involved then I want 1 Bitcoin to the following wallet."
"If they want the name of the individual involved then I want 1 Bitcoin to the following wallet. Time is more than relevant," the note said, according to the report. The Bitcoin address is a different address than the address linked to the ransom note that was sent to TMZ as well as other local Arizona news outlets after Guthrie's disappearance. The note claimed that the sender had unsuccessfully attempted to reach Savannah Guthrie's brother, Camron, and sister, Annie.
The second note, sent to TMZ on Thursday, said, "I am not being taken seriously." The email made some ominous statements and said that the situation has changed since the first email was sent on Wednesday. TMZ said it was not disclosing the specifics of the statements made due to cooperating with the police.
The person who sent the email said he needs the money in order to lay low in case the kidnapper retaliates against him for exposing the criminal and did not want to be "incriminated like that Carlos guy," the deliveryman who was detained and released. The person who sent the email, demanding the Bitcoin, said it is his last attempt to help identify the kidnapper in the Guthrie case.
On Tuesday, one man was detained by authorities in the case for questioning, however, he was later released. The case has now lasted for 12 days as authorities have been searching for the mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie. She was identified as missing after she did not show up to church and video footage of a suspect in the case has been released by the FBI.
Guthrie was last seen by her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, after she had dinner with her daughter Annie and Cioni on January 31.
