A new person of interest has been arrested in connection to the murder of Detroit synagogue president Samantha Woll.

The Detroit Police Department said in a statement to CBS, "DPD can confirm that a person of interest has been taken into custody in furtherance of the investigation into the murder of Samantha Woll."

"In an effort to ensure the integrity of this ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time. Additional information will be released in the near future."

Another suspect was arrested on Nov. 8 but was released on Nov. 11. According to WDIV, the suspect made ambiguous statements that weren’t enough to justify murder charges and stopped talking to police when he was taken to Detroit and hired a lawyer.

Suspects can only be held for three days under Michigan law without charges being filed.

Woll, 40, was found stabbed to death outside her home in Lafayette Park on Oct. 21. At the time of her death, she was serving as the president of Detroit’s Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue.

She returned home from a wedding at approximately 12:30 am. Police did not find signs of forced entry into her residence and authorities believe Woll was stabbed inside her home and managed to make her way to the yard where her body was located.

Her murder comes in the wake of the Oct 7 massacre by Hamas of over 1,200 Israelis which was followed by a massive spike of antisemitism in the US, yet law enforcement has claimed the attack was not a hate crime but have not disclosed a possible motive.
