Senior advisor to the Donald Trump campaign Jason Miller has said that a debate between Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris "will happen" and that the campaign wants "multiple debates."

According to a report from Axios, the Trump campaign is not committed to the pre-set debate with ABC News, however, Miller told the outlet, "A debate will happen. I'm not sure it will be ABC."

"Not only will there be another debate, but there should be multiple debates," Miller added. "We do think there should be some diversification in the outlets for who hosts a debate, but I think the public would be sold short if we only did one debate against Kamala Harris in the general election."

The Trump camp also suggested that a Spanish-American outlet could host a debate between Trump and Harris in the lead up to the 2024 election. On Wednesday, Fox News made an invitation to both campaigns, proposing a debate between the candidates with moderators Brett Baier and Martha MacCallum.

"In recognition of FOX News Media's capabilities and reputation, we cordially extend an invitation to all concerned parties to discuss our proposal. We appreciate your consideration and look forward to the opportunity to foster informed political dialogue a this pivotal moment for our nation," the invitation letter stated.

After Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday, Democratic lawmakers have shifted from pressuring Biden to step down to praising him for his decision. In a matter of a few days, the message from Democratic lawmakers and donors alike has been that Harris will be the nominee in the 2024 race against Trump.

ABC’s debate was originally scheduled on Sept. 10 and was going to take place between Trump and Biden. However, with Harris in the race now, and likely to secure the nomination, the question of when and where the debate will take place is up in the air.
