Liberals promote horse medication for women to take for abortions
“The fact that he had to make the video at all speaks to the horrifying nature of the world we’re finding ourselves in,” VICE’s Jason Koebler described.

“The fact that he had to make the video at all speaks to the horrifying nature of the world we’re finding ourselves in,” VICE’s Jason Koebler described.
Following the news indicating the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court, VICE’s Jason Koebler published an article advertising "do it yourself" advice on how women can make abortion pills at home.

At one point in the piece published Tuesday, Koebler wrote that the abortion-inducing ingredient misoprostol is used to treat ulcers in horses. Critics noted the irony, given previous reporting by VICE which previously claimed that Joe Rogan "spread misinformation" about ivermectin "the horse-deworming drug he took" when the podcaster contracted COVID.

In the piece, Koebler encouraged women to continue to seek abortions regardless of whether or not the procudure is legal in their state. He linked to a video by the Four Thieves Vinegar Collective, as an example of the more extreme methods some might turn to.

The publishing date for the video is September,2021. The video’s speaker, Mixael Laufer, said he felt like he needed to make the 17-minute explainer as a response to the "heartbeat" bill that had gone into effect in Texas.

A majority of the video is dedicated to Laufer discussing the difficulties in acquiring a substance like misoprostol, as well as warning that underground dealers of mifepristone might give counterfeit goods.
After VICE introduced and explained the contents of the video they added a disclaimer: "Motherboard cannot speak to the safety of making your own pills, and the Four Thieves Vinegar Collective has been criticized by some in the pharmaceutical and medical establishment who think that making DIY medicine isn't safe under any circumstances."
The article goes on to lament about how in a "progressive" and "just" world, abortions would be freely accessible. It came as a surprise to the Washington Post that the rest of the world is more restrictive when it comes to abortions than the US.
The Washington Post was so surprised to learn that the claim (that most countries restrict abortion more than Republican States do) was so verifiably true, that they even gave the claim a rare "Geppetto Checkmark" - awarded "when a factoid surprisingly turns out to be true" pic.twitter.com/qmWikFzT8I

"If Roe is overturned, we are going to see more people seeking DIY abortion methods, which will include making their own abortion pills," VICE warned.
It’s currently unclear how a December 2021 FDA decision to make by-mail abortion pill access a permanent fixture, will be impacted by the latest developments.
