Newsmax's Rob Schmitt was making fun of Jim Acosta's 2016 interview with then president Barack Obama on Wednesday.
Schmitt started off by playing a clip from the previous interview where Acosta asks Obama the following:
".... which some people are calling your best week ever, uh, last week."
"You had two Supreme Court decision support of the Affordable Care Act. You also delivered a speech down in Charleston that was pretty warmly received. It seems that you've built up some political capital for the remaining months of your presidency. I'm curious: how do you want to use it?"
Schmitt then chimes in on what to him is obvious media bias on the part of Acosta and CNN:
"Can you see the difference?"
"'Excuse me, President Obama, Jim Acosta here. What makes you so awesome? Why are you so great? Can you tell us a little bit more about why you're such an amazing guy? Can we hang out some time?'"
"It's a good thing for Acosta that he kissed Obama's butt so well. The administration never had to invoke the Espionage Act against him."
The last comment drew very loud laughter from someone behind the camera.
Schmitt is referring, naturally, to the fact that Obama used the Espionage act more times during his eight years in office than all previous administrations combined, a total of eight times.
Many feel that Obama was abusing his powers by using the Act to target political opponents, or people who disseminated information that he found inconvenient.
