BREAKING: Charlie Kirk announces return to Twitter in light of Elon Musk takeover

In an interview with Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade, Kirk described the line of events that led to this point.

"A couple of weeks ago, you know, I tweeted a tweet about Levine, and so did the Babylon Bee. And then Tucker Carlson tweeted about our tweets because we were suspended. And right during that time, all of a sudden, Elon Musk started to get very vocal about buying Twitter and, so not taking credit for anything, but we were definitely probably part of kind of the straw that broke the camel's back and what a difference a month makes," said Kirk.

"And so look, we kind of engaged in this protest where we decided we were not going to delete the tweet under the prior administration and regime and our protest kind of worked," said Kirk, referring to both himself and the Babylon Bee.

Kirk continued on to say that given the new management, he will be returning to the platform.

"And so we're gonna go back to the platform now that it's under new management with new promises for free speech protections," said Kirk, who added that he’s "thrilled" that Musk bought the platform.

In regards to the tweet that got Kirk banned, which talked about Levine living as a man for 54 years, and then going on to win awards and high ranking military positions after transitioning, Kirk said, "It's a factual tweet. It's not nothing in there is inaccurate."

"In fact, some people would say that I might have been overly politically correct to the entire situation, but I wanted to try to see where the line was. And obviously the line is that you're not even allowed to mention someone under their prior name," he said.

"It was a violation of policy called dead naming. This kind of unequal application of the rules of suspension on Twitter is precisely why Elon Musk put $44 billion forward to buy the platform," Kirk continued.

Kirk agreed with Kilmeade in that the social media platform needs to reveal its algorithms that allowed for "shadow banning" of accounts, a motion that Senator Josh Hawley has also called for.

"We need to find out exactly how severe was the censorship institutionally at Twitter," said Kirk. "From the shadow banning, to the suspended accounts, Elon I believe, now that he's the new manager and owner of Twitter ,needs to bring back the suspended accounts, especially those that were suspended for these ridiculously arbitrary reasons."

"We need a full investigation into the Hunter Biden laptop story that was not allowed to be spread on Twitter in the most consequential month of voting of the most consequential election of my lifetime," he added.

Kirk continued on to say that "the regime or the Empire is going to strike back. They're not going to take this easily or they’re not going to take this lightly."

Kirk said that Musk will be subpoenaed, investigated, and be smeared in news articles, but "I just don't think he cares."

"I also think Elon believes that the federal government needs him right now more than he needs the federal government. Good luck trying to compete with Russia and China in the space war, without SpaceX and Elon Musk. Good luck trying to fight climate change without Tesla. Good luck trying to fix the traffic problem in Los Angeles without The Boring Company and Elon Musk," said Kirk.
