BREAKING: George Soros hands over control to son Alexander; Elon Musk challenges him on public safety

Alex Soros, 37, told the Wall Street Journal that he is now the acting chairman of Soros' Open Society Foundations and plans to further support his father's causes; which includes supplying progressive campaigns with billions of dollars in donations from the foundation. The foundation directs approximately $1.5 billion a year to causes internationally.

According to the Journal, Alex is also the sole Soros on the investment committee of the $25 billion Soros Fund Management.

Elon Musk reacted to the news on Twitter, writing, "Just a formality. Alex has been de facto in charge for several years."

In a separate post responding to the same topic matter, Musk appeared to call out the Soros pair in regard to their conduct surrounding the political process, remarking that "destroying public safety by electing DAs who won’t prosecute violent criminals needs to stop."

He also said that if Alex believes in freedom of speech, the two have common ground, before challenging him to a Twitter Spaces session for the purpose of discussing public safety.

Johnathan Soros, 52, the half-brother of Alex, left the family's investment firm in 2011 after a significant falling out with senior executives. Many speculated that Johnathan would take over after George, but the family empire now sits in Alex's hands, who is known for his left-wing views and having a "playboy reputation," the Journal reports.

Alex, who has been to the Biden White House more than 17 times since April 2022, described himself to the Journal as "more political" than his Hungarian-born father. He recently tweeted a photo of himself with Vice President Kamala Harris and met with big-name Democrat donors, Breitbart News reports.

During the interview with WSJ, the young billionaire heir explained that he was particularly worried about the possibility of former President Trump returning to the White House in 2024 and implied that his family's foundation will make hefty donations to Democrats in the 2024 election.

"As much as I would love to get money out of politics, as long as the other side is doing it, we will have to do it, too," Alex told the outlet.

According to Open Society's website, Alex Soros's profile states that he is "the founding chair of Bend the Arc Jewish Action, and sits on the boards of Bard College, the Center for Jewish History, Central European University, the European Council on Foreign Relations, and International Crisis Group."

The Open Society Foundation has received worldwide scrutiny for its support of progressive causes. Soros-backed organizations have funneled millions of dollars to organizations and campaigns that help elect progressive prosecutors and politicians, promote the defunding of police departments, support mass illegal immigration as well as NGOs that help illegal immigrants evade deportation and more.
