The White House’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, has been fired. This comes after she held her first and only press conference on Tuesday.
Three people familiar with the matter told the New York Times she was fired on Friday. A senior White House official told Fox News that Zacharia is now “transitioning out” of the role.
Trump told reporters Friday that he had encouraged Zacharia to “reconsider” the job. He said, recounting a conversation with zacharia, “Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider.” He added, “Katie, do you need this? I don’t think you need this.” He said that Zacharia “has been treated very badly by the media,” and said he had asked her, “is this for you?”
