Canadians support Trump over Trudeau: Spark Advocacy poll

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau currently has the support of just 31 percent of Canadians, according to the Angus Reid Institute's tracker, suggesting that he is less popular among Canadians than Trump.

According to the poll, conducted online by Spark Advocacy among 2,175 Canadian adults between December 15 and 27, more Canadian Conservatives are becoming unafraid to back Trump. Around 50 percent of Conservative Party of Canada voters said they approve of him over Biden in a hypothetical re-match of the 2020 presidential race.

Support for Trump was highest in Alberta, which is arguably the province most in sync with American conservative values. In Wild Rose country, the former president garnered 42 percent support.

Young men were the demographic most likely to support Trump, at 52 percent, while older women were least likely, at 21 percent.

Before he lost the 2020 presidential election, only 16 percent of Canadians favored Trump over Biden, according to a 338Canada/Léger poll.

Trudeau, on the other hand, has seen his support go down during that same time period.

According to a December Ipsos poll, 72 percent of Canadians want Trudeau to exit federal politics and step down as leader of the Liberal Party, up from 60 percent in September. Even within his own party, 33 percent would like Trudeau to resign.

An Angus-Reid poll released Monday attempted to highlight Trump's unpopularity in Canada via the headline, "State of the Nations: Canadians fear for the impacts of another Trump term as U.S. Election 2024 looms," however the data showed that while a slight majority of Canadians, 53 percent, believe a Biden victory in 2024 would be better for the Canadian economy than a Trump win, almost 30 percent think it would make no difference.

Despite mainstream media reports suggesting that questioning the security of presidential elections amounts to nothing more than conspiracy theories, only 12 percent of Canadians surveyed by Angus-Reid said they believed US elections are safe and secure while 61 percent said they have no confidence in, or have doubts about the veracity of, the American election process.
