Ahead of Trump’s New Hampshire stop on Tuesday afternoon, a new poll has found that New Hampshire Republican primary voters want to see the 2024 GOP frontrunner back in the White House.
The poll, conducted by the NHJournal in partnership with Co/efficient, found that 43 percent of GOP voters in the state would vote for Trump in the Republican primary.
Trump has a nearly 40-point lead over his closest competitors, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who are tied at 9 percent. 13 percent of voters are still undecided.
57 percent of voters said they had a favorable opinion of the former president.
40 percent of voters said that they believe the Biden Department of Justice’s recent indictment of Trump amounts to political prosecution, and an additional 35 percent said that Trump is innocent. 25 percent said that Trump is guilty.
The majority of GOP voters in the state said they would still vote for Trump in 2024 even if Trump was serving time in prison, at 57 percent.
The poll was conducted between August 5 and 7 of 862 likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire and has a margin of error of 3.33 percent.
Trump is set to speak at Windham High School on Tuesday afternoon.
"As a pollster, I wonder if there is any other political figure in America who could generate this level of loyalty," said Co/efficient CEO Ryan Munce. "It will be difficult for any Republican to peel away these voters."
Trump currently faces three indictments, with a potential fourth coming from Georgia this month. Two of the three indictments are from Biden's Department of Justice, with one pertaining to the alleged retention of classified documents and the most recent giving Trump "conspiracy" charges in relation to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Trump also faces an indictment in Manhattan for the alleged falsification of business records.
