View on XJudge Arun Subramanian noted during the hearing, "Even if the defendant was solely required to show that he is not a danger to the community, he could not meet that burden." The judge said that the court had denied bail, and "sees no reason to reverse that now" due to the defendant’s violence, per Inner City Press. The defense had been seeking a $1 million bail.
"At trial, the defense conceded defendant’s violence in personal relationships saying ‘it happened’ in relation to Cassie Venture and Jane," the judge said.
Sentencing has been set for October 3, however, the judge said that he would be willing to move the date up at the request of the defense. The sex trafficking counts carry a sentence of up to 10 years. The defense has suggested a sentence of as little as 21 months, while the prosecution has suggested over five years, per the Associated Press. Combs has been behind bars since his arrest in September.
In response to the verdict, in which Combs was only found guilty of the two transportation for prostitution counts, supporters outside the courthouse were seen spraying baby oil on themselves.
