Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin's response to the "abolish the police" Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is to welcome them to the Democrat Party because it's a "big tent." He made the comments during a sit-down with Peter Alexander on MS NOW.
"DSA, Democratic Socialists, are an ally or a liability for the Democrats, as you’ve seen the way they’ve been branded, this party’s being branded by Republican opponents?” Alexander asked Martin in an interview.

Alexander, however, cut in and said that "sometimes is there a middle, though, when Americans see that–”
Martin interrupted to double down and said, “But no, not at all, because that’s where the vast majority of Americans are at. Maybe right in the middle, or a little center left, or a little center right. But it doesn’t mean we can’t bring new voices into the party, right? Of course, we have to keep growing and we have to keep expanding this tent."
Alexander ended the interview there, and said "thank you for coming on."
The DSA has been a far-left faction group for quite some time and was originally started in the 1980s. However, the group has only started to grow more prominent in recent years, with the presidential candidacy of Bernie Sanders as well as far-left candidates endorsed by the group making it into office. Notable policies that are endorsed by the DSA include abolishing the police, abolishing the Senate, establishing socialized medicine, and creating open borders.
Candidates that have been endorsed by the DSA in the upcoming midterm elections include Claire Valdez in NY-7, Daraliza Avila Chevalier in NY-13, Melat Kiros in CO-1, and Donovan McKinny in MI-13.
