On Tuesday, Elon Musk announced that his team was working on figuring out how to create a "porn free mode" on X to prevent users from being inundated with sexually explicit content. He said it was a "top priority."
The move comes on the heels of a rule change that permitted pornographic content on the platform. While such material was never officially banned, it did not, until now, explicitly allow it either.

View on X"Hey [Elon Musk] if you're going to allow porn, would it be possible to have a function that allows us to use X without being exposed to it?" Youtuber H. Pearl Davis asked, suggesting a "porn free mode."
Musk responded, saying, "this is a top priority."
His announcement was met with a chorus of thank yous, with users sharing Davis' desire to see an end to porn showing up in their feeds. Some, however, said the ban didn't do far enough.

View on X"Just ban it altogether," another added. "Pornography, besides killing your soul, contributes to the low birth rate."
X's Adult Content Policy was recently updated to clarify its stance on the issue.
"We believe that users should be able to create, distribute, and consume material related to sexual themes as long as it is consensually produced and distributed," X officials wrote. "Sexual expression, whether visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression. We believe in the autonomy of adults to engage with and create content that reflects their own beliefs, desires, and experiences, including those related to sexuality."
"We balance this freedom by restricting exposure to Adult Content for children or adult users who choose not to see it," they continued. "We also prohibit content promoting exploitation, nonconsent, objectification, sexualization or harm to minors, and obscene behaviors. We also do not allow sharing Adult Content in highly visible places such as profile photos or banners."
