View on XThe GiveSendGo page reads: “To our Fellow Canadians, the time for political over reach is over. Our current government is implementing rules and mandates that are destroying the foundation of our businesses, industries and livelihoods. Canadians have been integral to the fabric of humanity in many ways that have shaped the planet.”
“We are a peaceful country that has helped protect nations across the globe from tyrannical governments who oppressed their people, and now it seems it is happening here. We are taking our fight to the doorsteps of our Federal Government and demanding that they cease all mandates against its people,” the group explains. “Small businesses are being destroyed, homes are being destroyed, and people are being mistreated and denied fundamental necessities to survive. It's our duty as Canadians to put an end to this mandates. It is imperative that this happens because if we don't our country will no longer be the country we have come to love. We are doing this for our future Generations and to regain our lives back.”
As detailed by the organizers, money raised through GiveSendGo will be dispersed to the truckers to aid them with the cost of the journey, including fuel, food, and shelter where necessary.
The protest organizers were encouraged to set up a campaign on the Christian crowdfunding website after their original protest fund on GoFundMe was removed by the platform following complaints from Ottawa city politicians and the police.
Ottawa City Councillor Mathieu Fleury first called on seizing the support account, which had raised upwards of $9 million at the time, to cover the costs of policing the city.
The GoFundMe campaign topped $10 million before it was suspended, and later pulled down by the platform over claims that the campaign violated the company’s terms and services prohibiting “violence and harassment.” GoFundMe continues to host campaigns for violent Antifa extremists, the Post Millennial reported.
"Antifa extremists have used @GoFundMe for years. All of these are currently active campaigns I have just archived," Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec reported, sharing screenshots of current GoFundMe fundraisers backing Antifa.
The platform also hosted Antifa-occupied “CHAZ/CHOP” even after several people were killed at the Antifa-driven occupation in Seattle at the height of the protests in summer 2020, going so far as to boost one of the occupiers.
