As California Governor Gavin Newsom went to speak in Pennsylvania on Saturday at a campaign event for Joe Biden, supporters of Donald Trump gathered to protest his speech, which only drew around 200 Biden supporters. He was slated to speak on Saturday alongside other local Democrats.
Reporter Logan Dubil told The Post Millennial that there were about 200 people in attendance, noting that it was a generous estimate for supporters at the event. Dubil said that around 40 or so Trump supporters showed up to protest the event as well. The Trump supporters lined the streets to greet Newsom on his way to stump for Biden.

View on XMinutes before the event began, a Biden-Harris campaign staffer appeared on stage to tell supporters of Biden in attendance to move closer to the front so that the press could see how many people were there. "If I can ask people to start consolidating into the space, we just want to show how many people are here, right? We got some friends in the back, let's show the press how much energy there is."

View on XDubil told TPM that Newsom as well as others spoke at the event. One repeated talking point that was made was that Trump is going to ban abortion in the United States. Trump, however, has not taken this position in his campaign ahead of the 2024 election. When Trump was asked about his position on the topic in the debate last week, Trump said that he wants the states "making their own decisions right now," and that the states controlling the issue of abortion was “the vote of the people."

Newsom rejected calls for Biden to step away from the race against Trump during his speech, per the Penn Capital-Star. “Look, there’s a handful of folks that may have different opinions,” Newsom told reporters. “The vast majority of the caucus remains solidly behind the president.” He then called for the Biden-Harris campaign to keep going forward.
