Governor Gavin Newsom is set to campaign for the reelect effort for President Joe Biden, stopping in bright red states to generate support for the 80-year-old president and getting personal accolades along the way.
He stopped in Idaho on Saturday to speak at an event in the state where registered Republicans outnumber Democrats 4-1, according to the Los Angeles Times.

"I’m really proud of this president, and I hope you are as well,” Newsom said to the crowd.
Some in attendance saw Newsom to be an up-and-coming political figure to be in the White House.
Russ Buschert, a Democratic Party trustee in Idaho, said, "He looks like an incredible presidential candidate."
Michael Anderson, who moved to Idaho after being a California resident, said, "I appreciate a lot that Joe Biden has done, but I think it’s time for that next generation of leaders, too."
Newsom has been attempting to pump his own political agenda in red states for some time now, but has stated that he has no interest in the White House.
In September of 2022, paid billboard ads for his campaign were pushed into seven red states: Texas, Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Oklahoma. Newsom announced the billboards in a tweet saying, "Just launched billboards in 7 of the most restrictive anti-abortion states that explain how women can access care--no matter where they live."

Newsom has also released campaign ads in Florida urging residents to leave the state and "join [people] in California" to enjoy the "freedom" of abortion access and "freedom from hate."
After visiting Idaho, Newsom is planning on visiting Montana for the Fourth of July and will stop in Utah as well, according to the LA Times.
Newsom wrote a check for $10,000 to the Idaho Democratic Party in order to pay for the event, which is the maximum legal limit.
In an interview in Boise, Newsom said, “I’m just trying to move from lament and critique to action and responsibility."
“I’m trying to build something,” he said.
In the span of the last few years alone, California has seen a population decline of over 500,000.
