Here are the 14 victims of Bourbon Street terror attack

The devastating attack occurred in the city’s French Quarter, which was bustling with partygoers and visitors from across the globe when Shamsud-din Jabbar drove a rented Ford F-150 into the crowd.

The victims, who died from blunt force injuries, came from Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, and the United Kingdom. Jabbar was fatally shot by police during the incident. The most recently identified victim is Latasha Polk, a nursing assistant and mother of a teenage boy.

British citizen Edward Pettifer, 31, was also confirmed as one of those killed. His family released a statement: “We will all miss him terribly. Our thoughts are with the other families who have lost their family members due to this terrible attack.” Pettifer, the stepson of Prince William’s nanny, was also mourned by the Prince and Princess of Wales, who said, “Catherine and I have been shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Ed Pettifer. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Pettifer family and all those innocent people who have been tragically impacted by this horrific attack.”

Brandon Taylor, 43, a Louisiana native, was struck by the terrorist’s truck on Bourbon Street. Another victim, 40-year-old Elliot Wilkinson of Slidell, Louisiana, was remembered by his brother Cecil on Facebook: “To my little brother Elliot Wilkinson, you was loved, and you will truly be missed. I know life was hard for you at times, but I wasn’t expecting to get the phone call this morning that you was one of them that got hit in New Orleans in the French Quarter.”

New Orleans native Terrence Kennedy, 63, a recently retired server, was also killed. “Bourbon is like a free party. He was enjoying his city that he enjoyed for 63 years,” said his niece, Monisha James.

Billy DiMaio, 25, a New Jersey native who had plans to attend the Sugar Bowl with friends, was described by his mother as a “good, humble kid.”

Hubert Gauthreaux, 21, of Gretna, Louisiana, was among the victims. His last words to his sister were reportedly, “Happy New Year, I love you,” according to the Daily Mail.

Kareem Badawi, 18, a University of Alabama freshman and Louisiana native, was another victim. Badawi had just begun his studies at the university after graduating from the Episcopal School of Baton Rouge.

Andrew Dauphin, 26, of Montgomery, Alabama, also lost his life. A GoFundMe page created by a cousin described him as an audiovisual technician at the Superdome.

Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux, 18, who had snuck out of her home with her cousin to attend the festivities, was among those killed. Her grieving mother wrote, “When your parents say don’t go anywhere, please listen to them.”

Reggie Hunter, a 37-year-old father of two, had just left work and was on his way to celebrate the New Year with his cousin when he was killed. His cousin sustained injuries in the attack.

Tiger Bech, 27, a former high school and college football player from Louisiana, and Nicole Perez, a single mother of a four-year-old working to create a better life for herself, were also among the victims.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry declared a period of mourning on Friday, stating, “The innocent lives lost will never be forgotten. However, Louisiana and her people will never cower in fear. Instead, we will unite and come back stronger in honor of every person who lost their lives that day.”
