Minnesota Dem turns on Ilhan Omar, says it's 'almost certainly true' she married her brother
“Democrats should understand that the allegation is almost certainly true."

A prominent Democrat in Minnesota who previously served in the state legislature said on Thursday that he believes the allegations about Rep. Ilhan Omar marrying her brother. The move from the political operative is a sign that the dam around Omar may be breaking as more scandals and investigations pile up.
Joe Radinovich posted to X, “Democrats should understand that the allegation is almost certainly true—whatever conclusion they draw from that point could vary—and her denials calling it a right-wing, Islamophobic or racist conspiracy are almost certainly not.”
Radinovich served as a state representative from 2013 to 2015 as a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. He also said that the investigation into her finances could be an issue.
He added, “And then I’d be very, very careful about how I qualified on allegations around her finances—where her defense looks similar and where no meaningful questions have been answered publicly, and where any objective look at the evidence doesn’t look…great.”
Radinovich is a well-connected Democrat operative in Minnesota. He previously managed Democrat Rick Nolan’s 2016 congressional campaign and ran Jacob Frey's campaign for Minneapolis Mayor. Following Frey's win, he also served as chief of staff for the mayor.
Radinovich got a response from Briana Rose Lee, a Minneapolis DFL activist who worked under Omar for her campaign operation. Lee called the investigation a "witch hunt."
"Joe. You aren’t stupid. You know this is a baseless and manufactured witch hunt. I’m actually surprised to see this from you. It’s a new low," she said.
Radinovich replied, "You’re right. I’m not stupid. I believe the Trump DOJ has next to no credibility and that it’s unclear to me the timing of the raid was appropriate—though it’s notable a DC judge signed off on it—but I’m pretty confident this specific allegation is true."
Omar has faced allegations that she married her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 in order to get him a green card in the US. There has also been other reporting that has indicated the man she married—who now lives in the UK—is actually.
