The rally in Pickens was the second large rally of his 2024 campaign after having one in Waco, Texas in March.
The former president's 2024 approach has been different compared to 2020 and 2016. As opposed to holding many larger rallies, Trump has been hosting many smaller, invite-only, events for Republican party organizations.
Unannounced restaurant stops have also become a staple of his campaign strategy alongside the decrease in large events.
Despite this, the rally drew thousands across the region. Some attendees came from as far as Florida.
Greg Pressley, a supporter from Tennessee, drove several hours to attend the event. "I love his policies. I love the man. I’m here to support him getting back to where he needs to be, to begin with," Pressley said.
Shelley Fox from Spartanburg, SC, also spoke about her support of Trump. "I'd write him in," she said in regard to if she was forced to consider voting for someone else.
