A recent poll performed on Friday by the Oregonian indicates that people living in Portland are now doing their able best to avoid the city's downtown area due to potential crime and violence there.
Portland has been referred to as "destroyed" "trashed" and "sad", by respondents, according to the poll.
According to the Daily Wire, the main problems people feel they are facing in downtown Portland are dirtiness and danger due to rising crime. Sixty-three percent of those polled stated that they felt downtown Portland has gotten "less safe".
Portland has seen just short of a whole year of constant riots, with tons of property damage, and injuries and deaths on both the sides of the rioters and the police. The National Guard has been called in before, and now the FBI are planning to aid local authorities in quelling the non-stop violence:
"With news of an ‘imminent’ threat of gun violence in Portland, Police Chief Chuck Lovell, and an FBI official spoke about violence reduction efforts during a media briefing on Saturday," stated local outlet KOIN in a report.
"The Portland City Council announced police and the FBI will be on the streets of the city for the next few days, citing intelligence that there are ‘imminent’ efforts from outside groups to ‘engage and advance gun violence’ this weekend. PPB Chief Lovell joined Oregon FBI Special Agent in Charge Keiran Ramsey on Saturday to discuss what authorities are doing to mitigate the violence permeating the city."
